Metabolize announced the completion of a $3.2M seed financing on October 15, 2026. Astanor led the round, with Maia Ventures, LongGame Venture, and SOSV participating.
The company was founded in 2024 by Dr. Morris Laster, now its CEO, and Gideon Meir. Its work builds on research led by Jonathan Long, PhD, an associate professor of pathology at Stanford Medicine. Metabolize holds an exclusive license to the Stanford-originated, patent-protected discoveries behind what it calls Precision Metabolite™ Technology.
The technology centers on naturally occurring compounds with defined biological roles. Metabolize says it turns them into consumer products with consistent composition and clearly defined mechanisms of action, aiming to create a new category of metabolic health solutions.
The company’s first product, NATLEAN, is designed for people transitioning off GLP-1 therapies. It aims to help reduce food noise, support healthy appetite regulation, and promote long-term weight management. Additional products are in development.
Laster says GLP-1s changed weight management but haven’t solved every problem. He points to a growing group of people who are tapering off, cycling off, or not eligible for these drugs. Astanor Partner Christina Ulardic cited the strength of the underlying research and the team’s approach to translating it into consumer products.
Funds will go toward commercializing the technology and continuing development, validation, and manufacturing of its products. Metabolize says it has already secured the Stanford license, built out manufacturing and analytical capabilities, and established its IP portfolio. These claims are company-reported.
