Bairitone Health announced $2.4M in seed funding on September 29, 2026, exceeding its initial $2M goal. The oversubscribed round was led by New York-based Golden Seeds, which invests in female entrepreneurs, with participation from Houston-based South Loop Ventures, MALIAM, Impact Invest Her, and angel, venture, syndicate, and family office investors.
The financing builds on a $435,000 pre-seed round raised in 2024. Bairitone plans to allocate the capital toward expanding clinical testing sites, advancing FDA clearance efforts, and continuing product development.
The startup was founded in 2022 out of the Texas Medical Center’s Biodesign program by CEO Meagan Pitcher, CTO Onur Kilic, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Britt Cross. Pitcher previously participated in Activate Houston’s inaugural cohort and led the company through multiple healthcare accelerators.
Bairitone’s flagship product, SOMNAR, is a noninvasive diagnostic platform designed for sleep apnea airway assessment. Using a facial patch, SOMNAR maps a user's upper airway anatomy during natural sleep to identify the precise root cause of airway obstruction, enabling personalized therapeutic recommendations.
Traditional sleep apnea diagnostics often identify the presence of sleep apnea without pinpointing the exact physical mechanism causing the airway block. Bairitone’s premise is that identifying anatomical root causes in natural sleep environments leads to more targeted and effective treatment plans.
In April, SOMNAR received Breakthrough Device Designation from the FDA. While currently limited to investigational use pending formal clearance, the designation provides Bairitone with prioritized review and direct interaction with FDA experts to streamline the approval process.
Pitcher noted in a public update that the funding will allow the team to expand clinical testing, engage with more physicians and patients, and iterate on product development based on clinical data.
